Overview
From 11.59pm, Wednesday 13 May 2020, New Zealand will move from COVID-19 Alert Level 3 to Alert Level 2. This downgrade in levels allows the real estate industry to continue our safe operation, with some additional activities able to commence.
All businesses operating at Alert Level 2 have a responsibility to ensure they adhere to public health guidance and health and safety obligations. Here at Lugtons, we’re putting in place extra precautions to continue the great work we’ve achieved in our team of five million.
Offices reopening
All Lugtons Waikato offices will reopen under Level 2.
Our Central Office at 1010 Victoria Street, Hamilton will resume normal office hours from 8.30am on Thursday 14 May.
Other Lugtons offices (Cambridge, River Road, East, and Dinsdale) will open at 8.30am on Monday 18 May and resume normal office hours.
All Lugtons offices will be maintaining strict hygiene and cleaning practices as per Government requirements. Rest assured, physical distancing of one metre will be adhered to by team members in every office, and all visitors and staff members to any office will be required to register details upon entry to enable contact tracing.
Open homes
Open homes will be held under Alert Level 2.
We will have special guidelines in place for everyone who attends. Please make sure you follow the salesperson’s instructions when attending an open home and do not come if you are feeling unwell.
The salesperson will have hand sanitiser available and will be asking you not to touch anything inside the house. You will be required to sign a register and fill in your contact details.
We will be limiting the number of people in the house to maintain effective physical distancing at all times.
Physical property appraisals
These will continue to happen as they did in Alert Level 3. Contact our team to organise your free onsite appraisal today.
Sales and purchase agreements
These can now be negotiated face-to-face, while observing physical distancing requirements.
Auctions
All auctions postponed prior to Alert Level 4 lockdown can now happen in Alert Level 2.
Seating in our auction room will be arranged to maintain the one-metre physical distance requirement and all attendees will need to sign a register on entry and exit. This is for your safety, as much as contact tracing should the unthinkable happen. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend. If you are an interested buyer and do not wish to physically attend an auction, our salespeople are more than happy to represent you at the auction.
Pre-settlement inspections
These can continue to happen in Alert Level 2. The salesperson will wear gloves, open all doors, turn on chattels etc. as per the purchaser’s request. The purchaser is to observe and maintain physical distance throughout the pre-settlement inspection process.
If you have any questions surround our new processes while working within COVID-19 Alert Level 2, please contact the Lugtons team today. We will also be providing any important updates on the changes to requirements and our best practice response as they become available. Make sure you are following our Facebook page to stay up to date.
We look forward to being able to continue to help you with all your real estate needs, while keeping everyone safe and following all Government requirements.
