What were you doing before you got into real estate?

I was working at Telecom in a customer services inbound call centre. We had good incentives and rewards, but I realised that if I could do well in this job, that having my own business may be the way to go. I knew that in each sales job I had, that I was limited to what income I could earn. My trigger point was when a real estate agent said to me “have you ever thought of selling real estate”?… And that was it.

Why did you choose Lugtons

I was originally working for another real estate company but then a role came up with Lugtons and I decided to make the move. I am glad I did.

What have been some of your highlights to date in your real estate career?

Being Rookie of the Year in my first year. Earning my first $100,000 – I never dreamed that it would be possible. Being in the Top 5 of a company for at least 15 years. Another highlight is selling first home buyers into a home, going back a few years later when they have grown their family in size, and helping them into their next bigger home. I love that.

Any tips for new recruits starting out in real estate?

Don’t be afraid to pick up the phone. Prospect Prospect Prospect. Follow-up Follow-up. Be in the office, you’ll pick up lots of information and dialogue from experienced agents. Make sure your diary is full with “business”, not “busy-ness” - or you’ll be fooled into thinking you’re busy. Put slots into your diary with appraisals you plan to do… then try and fill those slots. If you loose the fire in your belly along the way…. Re-invent yourself again. Try some new things.
